THE 10BEST.RAYTRACE.COM SUBMISSION AGREEMENT AND LICENCE

In the following text, "you" and "your" means the person submitting the work 
to 10best.raytrace.com, and "we" or "us" means the administrators of 
10best.raytrace.com.

Ownership

We agree that we consider the uploaded files to be your original work, and you
retain all copyright and ownership rights.

You agree and represent to us that, except for any public domain code or 
freely-usable and distributable macros, objects, or plugins, you are  the  
sole creator of, and own all rights to, the submitted work.

Grant of Limited Reproduction and Distribution Rights

We claim collection copyright on the collection that we maintain. We agree 
that we will place the following restrictions on this collection:

The files in the collection may not be distributed, in whole or  in part, 
for any purpose whatsoever without the express prior written consent of the 
persons who contributed the files being distributed except in the circumstances 
that we or you permit as given in the rest of this agreement.

By submitting to 10best.raytrace.com you are indicating your agreement with, 
and authorise us to do, the following:

1. You grant us and our authorized sponsors the right to make prints of images 
submitted and to distribute the prints for the purposes of marketing and 
demonstration. These reproduction and distribution rights are limited to 
circumstances where no explicit payment is received for the work (i.e. they may 
not be sold).

You also grant us and our authorized mirror sites the right to place the 
submitted files onto authorized web or FTP servers for the purpose of display 
and download.

2. You grant Chris Cason and his authorized agents the right to include any or 
all files in your submission on CD-ROM's or any other media (including but not 
limited to DVD-ROM's), and also to reproduce your work, in whole or in part, on 
posters, calenders, or other physical media, for the purpose of being sold to 
the 
general public.

3. You grant Chris Cason and his authorized agents the right to use any files 
in your submission to assist or promote the activities in (2) above.

4. You grant us the right to use any and all files in your submission for 
promotion of the competition or website and/or activities related to the 
competition or website.

5. You grant the right of private recreational or non-commercial use to the 
general public, EXCEPTING THE RESTRICTIONS (5.1) AND (5.2)  below.

5.1. Distribution is not allowed on any storage media that is accessible over 
the Internet or similar Wide Area Networks. This prohibits the use of these 
files on FTP, WWW or gopher sites, among others. Distribution authorized in 
(1) through (4) above is excluded from this restriction.

5.2. Distribution is not allowed on any CD-ROMs or other high capacity media 
(optical disks, DVD, etc.) excepting those that are produced in accordance with 
(1) through (4) above.

6. You agree that all grants of rights given above are irrevocable.

This, in plain English, allows us to use your files for our purposes, and 
allows Chris Cason to use your files for producing CD-ROMs, DVD's, posters, 
calenders, etc. It also permits sponsors that have been authorized by  us to 
use your images to demonstrate their products and services ; however, sponsors 
are not permitted to sell your images. By "images" we mean any still image or 
part thereof, or selected frame from animations (or part thereof) that you 
submit to us.

YOU STILL OWN THE FILES! You are not asked to surrender your copyright to us 
or Chris or anyone else, you are merely saying that you grant us permission to 
use your files for these specific purposes, and that this grant is irrevocable 
(that is, you can't change your mind later, since we may already have put your 
work on a CDROM, and we would otherwise have todestroy it).

You are also allowing private individuals to copy the files to their hard 
drive, look at them, use them for windows wallpaper, show friends, etc. It 
forbids anyone except us, Chris Cason, or our sponsors, from using 
the files for any profit-making activity at all. It also forbids anyone except 
us or Chris from putting the files on FTP sites, WWW sites etc, or on "free" 
CD-ROMs of any sort. 

You may, of course, give your permission personally to anyone you like to 
do anything with the files ... they are yours!
